1999 Diary of Carp Carptures and Other Things!!.

June 16th until June 24th, 1999. Annual Holiday to Baston Fen.

Well the 1999 season is upon us and I have just come back from a 9 day stint down at Park Lake, Baston Fen, Lincolnshire, Great Britain (See later for info.). I managed two thirties in the first three days, fishing with 18mm Nutrabaits Big Fish Mix Fruit Special Boilies on a size 4 Drennan Boilie Hook. The first fish Weighed 31lb 11oz and was caught at 2.30 a.m. on the opening night. Not a bad start I thought, especially as its a fish that no-one seems to be able to recognise. A new personal best for me as well. I followed it up with a 15lb Mirror the following morning and the second thirty came at 3.30 p.m. on the third day. same rig as above. Well I couldn't believe it. Anyhow here are the pics to prove it.

The top pic is the 31lb 11 oz and the bottom pic is the 30lb 15 oz. The 30lb 15 oz is the same fish that appears later which I caught last year at 29lb 12 oz. Despite fishing on for another 5 days all I could manage were missed runs and pull outs. Must have missed another 10 takes in all. Better tie a new hook on for next week end.
